In-store selling guide

Sell your Mac in Hollywood.
No shipping required.

A practical guide to an in-store sale at MacPro-LA: what to bring, what gets checked, and how to leave your personal data behind—not on your device.

A local sale, from start to finish

Selling a Mac does not have to involve finding a box, sending your computer away or arranging a meeting with an unfamiliar private buyer. If you are near Hollywood, you can bring your Apple device to MacPro-LA, ask questions face to face and decide on an offer after the team has inspected it.

This guide covers the in-store route at 1947 N Cahuenga Blvd #104, Los Angeles CA 90068. It is designed to help you arrive prepared—not to promise a price or a fixed completion time. Your particular model, condition and readiness determine what happens next.

Allow time, even for a simple sale. A typical target for a single, prepared device is 10–15 minutes, subject to inspection, condition and readiness. This is not a guarantee. Backups, account access issues, additional testing, multiple devices or a busy counter can make a visit take longer.

What happens at the counter?

1. Share the details before you travel

Use the existing MacBook Pro quote page or the page for your device to provide its model and condition. A useful estimate starts with the exact chip, memory and storage—not just “a silver MacBook.” Mention any repairs, missing accessories or issues you have noticed. If you do not know the specifications, ask for help finding them rather than guessing.

Check eligibility before carrying a desktop across town. The current site lists working Apple computers from 2020 or newer and excludes computers with major faults such as liquid damage, a cracked screen, a dead battery or no power. iPhone and iPad eligibility should be checked through their own quote pages. An online estimate is a starting point, not a commitment to a final payout.

2. Bring your device in for inspection

At the store, the team confirms what the device is and assesses its condition. That can include visible wear, power and charging, display and keyboard function, battery condition where relevant, and whether it can be activated without someone else’s account. A specification mismatch or a fault can affect the offer. Ask which findings matter and how they affect the valuation.

Bring the charger or power cable if available and keep a note of any estimate you received. If you need help with data preparation, say so before the sale moves forward. Never hand over your Apple Account password; enter credentials yourself when a legitimate device step requires them.

3. Review the final offer, then choose

Inspection comes before the final offer. Review the amount and ask questions while you still have a choice. If it differs from your estimate, ask the team to explain the reason. You can decline rather than proceed with an offer you do not want.

If you accept, confirm how you will be paid and complete the handover with the team. The site offers same-day payment for accepted in-store sales, including cash; confirm your preferred method and availability before your visit. Check that the agreed payment is received and keep a record of the transaction. “No shipping” means the inspection and handover happen locally—not that every device qualifies or every visit takes the same amount of time.

Your before-you-visit checklist

Use this checklist to prepare at your own pace. Checking a box is just a reminder; it does not change any settings on your device, and it is not saved when you leave.

Erasing a Mac is model-dependent

On a supported Mac running a compatible macOS version, Erase All Content and Settings is available under System Settings → General → Transfer or Reset. Older Macs may need a different process through macOS Recovery. Do not assume a single sequence works on every machine. Follow the existing step-by-step erase guide and check Apple’s instructions for your exact model if necessary.

On iPhone or iPad, back up first, then use the appropriate account sign-out and erase steps in Settings. If a security delay or account-recovery issue prevents removal of a lock, resolve it before traveling. A factory reset is not proof that Activation Lock or company management has been removed.

Keep your data under your control. A backup, an erase and account removal are separate tasks. Verify the backup first, then work through the remaining steps. If you cannot confirm a backup, pause the sale rather than risk losing irreplaceable files.

What affects your Mac’s offer?

The model name is only part of the picture. Two computers with the same exterior can have different processors, memory, storage and resale demand. Battery condition, screen wear, functional issues, accessories and ownership restrictions can also matter. A high-spec Max or Ultra configuration is worth describing in full rather than selecting the nearest generic model.

Compare offers for the same specifications and condition, and distinguish cash from store credit. Check whether an offer is an estimate or already inspection-confirmed. Private listing prices are asking prices; they do not show what a buyer actually paid, how long the listing took or the seller’s costs. The useful comparison is the amount and terms you are comfortable accepting for your actual device.

Plan your Hollywood visit

MacPro-LA · 1947 N Cahuenga Blvd #104, Los Angeles CA 90068. Listed store hours are Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm, and Saturday, 10am–2pm. Walk-ins are welcome. Confirm current hours before making a special trip, and allow enough time before closing for an inspection.

For a large desktop, several devices or any uncertainty about eligibility, call (323) 378-5603 or email sellmacforcash@macpro-la.com first. Ask about access and parking rather than assuming a reserved space is available. For a business sale, share an inventory ahead of time so the team can discuss a realistic inspection plan.

Questions before you come in

Do I have to ship my device?

No. This guide is specifically about selling at the Hollywood store. Bring the device in person, review the offer after inspection, and decide whether to accept. You do not need a shipping label or a package for an in-store sale.

Will my visit definitely take 10–15 minutes?

No. That is a typical target for a single, ready-to-sell device, not a guaranteed turnaround. Inspection findings, condition, account locks, data preparation, the number of devices and store demand can extend the visit. If you have a deadline, contact the team before traveling.

Do I need an appointment?

The current store information welcomes walk-ins during business hours: Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm, and Saturday, 10am–2pm. For multiple devices, a large desktop or a time-sensitive visit, contacting the team first helps you plan. Confirm hours before a special trip.

What if I have not erased my device?

Back up at home first whenever possible. If you are unsure which erase method is right, ask the team before proceeding. You may need additional time and access to your Apple Account. Do not erase your only copy of important files, and do not share your account password.

Is the online estimate the final offer?

No. An estimate depends on the details supplied. The in-store inspection confirms the model and condition before a final offer is made. Ask what changed if the final offer differs. You can decline before agreeing to the sale.

Can I sell a damaged or older Mac?

The current website says it buys working Apple computers from 2020 or newer, and does not buy computers with cracked screens, liquid damage, dead batteries, hardware faults or no power. Ask about your specific device before traveling; do not assume all products follow the same eligibility rules.

Can I sell several company Macs together?

Start with the bulk trade-in page and an inventory of models, serial numbers, specifications and condition. Have an authorized administrator release management and account restrictions. A multi-device inspection needs its own time estimate; the single-device 10–15 minute target should not be applied to a fleet.
